The Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology ( CANO /ACIO) Board of Directors are pleased to announce that in 2010 we will be accepting applications for two annual research grants in the amount of $5000.00 each.
The CANO/ACIO Research Grants have been established to help build capacity for nursing research across Canada for oncology nurses. The primary goal of these research grants is to enable nurses to conduct research by providing support for a proposal in the early stages of the research project. One grant will be presented for each category: one novice researcher grant and one experience researcher grant. The individual applying for these grants must be the principle investigator and not a member of a research team.
Novice Researcher Grant: One research grant ($5000.00) will be given to a ‘novice’ oncology nurse working on completing a research study either affiliated with Baccalaureate or graduate studies OR having completed their studies and being mentored in the clinical setting by an experienced oncology nurse researcher. The mentor should be listed as a co-PI or co-investigator. The grant must be submitted with the novice researcher / mentee as first author. The mentor must submit a letter of support indicating that the potential grant recipient is being mentored as a novice researcher.
Experienced Researcher Grant:
One research grant ($5000.00) will be given to an oncology nurse with
experience in conducting research, whom has previously been a Principle
Investigator and has demonstrated expertise in conducting research.
