De Souza Institute - Ontario
Tuesday, April 5, 2011: From 1:30 to 2:30pm a live webcast and interactive nursing chat will be held in honour of OND 2011!During the webcast you'll hear winning inspirational cancer care stories from the OND 2011 Contest winners, and participate in a discussion about oncology nursing leadershipled
by Dr. Joy Richards (one of the three de Souza co-chairs) from
University Health Network and Dr. Mary Jane Esplen from de Souza

York Central Hospital-Ontario
Will be celebrating Oncology Nursing Day
by having a session on Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the Oncology
Setting. This will include a practical component of guided imagery for
nurses. Following this they will celebrate with food and beverages.
Champlain Chapter - Ontario
An "Oncology 401" conference is organized with different presentations from 8am to 4pm and a lunch.

Edmonton - Alberta
The Alberta North Chapter is having its annual general meeting on March 31 with a wine
and cheese event. The priority is a membership drive with a member winning an
IPAD that evening.
On April, 5 they will be hosting a pizza party for the nurses, handing out
CANO lanyards and continuing with the membership drive.
Moncton Chapter - New Brunswick
Tuesday, April 5, 2011:The local chapter of CANO in Moncton,
New Brunswick will be holding a breakfast at
the Moncton City Hospital
for its Oncology nurses. During the breakfast we will be showing a video
which was developed this year displaying photos of the staff, as well as video
messages from our Oncologists, management, patients, and family members.
There will also be door prizes given out to a couple lucky winners. CANO
members will be on hand to promote CANO membership and answer any questions
about CANO. We are looking forward to a wonderful day.
Juravinski
Hospital and Cancer Centre - Ontario
Tuesday, April 5, 2011: The Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre is planning a day of activities for OND.
A presentation about "Sleep in the context of cancer" , two on-line sessions, a drop-in pizza luncheon, a de Souza session as well as cake and coffee during the afternoon will be featured on April 5.

Tuesday, April 5, 2011: The BC Cancer Agency will held a dinner and a presentation from Sally Thorne, PhD, FCAHS, RN "Meeting the Needs of Our Patients: Cancer Nursing in Challenging Times".

certification, the OND Mayoral Proclammation will be displayed and there will
be some displays of projects and research being done by oncology nurses within the program.

Tuesday, April 5, 2011: A breakfast will kick off the
day followed by the cutting of a cake, lovingly made by one of our generous
volunteers. A dinner will be held off site with guest speaker Diana Tikasz, a
social worker from Hamilton Health Sciences Centre, who will address the issue
of Compassion Fatigue.
Wednesday, April 6, 2011: The nurses will be presenting at Oncology Grand rounds on the topic “Celebrating
Our Voice”.We will promote oncology
nursing to our colleagues and community partnersby sharing our values and standards of
practice.
South West Health - Nova Scotia
Tuesday, April 5, 2011: The Yarmouth Regional Hospital is planning
a display in the hospital to recognize the nurses in Oncology, as well as an
evening at the movies!
Toronto Chapter - Ontario
Monday, April 4, 2011: The Toronto Chapter will be presenting a dinner with speaker "Update on Multiple Myeloma"at the Delta Toronto East Hotel.

On both April 5 and 6, the London Health Sciences Centre will have lunches for the
in-patient nurses. A lunch will be held in the Cancer Centre on April 8 for
those in the Ambulatory setting.
